| Reach & Stabilize & Reach Again
|
Your body and mind are designed to improve. That's why you don't get the same benefit from repeating the same exercises over and over. It's also true that if you're not growing and improving, you will naturally slip toward decline...there is no standing still.
Any coach or physical trainer will tell you how important it is for you to be reaching for new knowledge,
strength and skill. Life itself seems to ask that of us...and if you wonder why that is, I think it's because each one of us is designed to be magnificent in our own unique way.
If this sounds like too much work, just think in terms of reaching in small steps. Greater things are accomplished with a lot of small, smart steps than with giant leaps. Everybody would like to be smarter and stronger, so just set your sites on what you want to learn, and how you want to gain strength, and start in with those small steps. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish.
Ok, that's the reaching part...now for the stabilizing part. When
you try something new or extend yourself in some new direction, you will feel some insecurity with that new territory. This is where you sit back, take a breath, and review all of your prior accomplishments. You will feel like a beginner, and possibly awkward and unsure as you reach in some new direction, so stabilize your self image and sense of security by giving yourself a boost of confidence. You've come a long way, and there's so much ahead of you! |
