| Be Your Best Possible Self
|
You have been getting
better all of your life, whether you realize it or not. It's just what we do as human beings. So...why does it seem to go the other way for some folks? I'm glad you asked.
A big part of who you become and how you progress through life is determined by how you imagine yourself. If you accept the expectations of others about who you are and who you're becoming, you may just repeat old patterns of decline or stagnation. If you bring
that subconscious process to a conscious level and make it very intentional, however, you get to be more creative in deciding who and how you become.
The best way to approach this is with a daily journaling practice that goes like this: - Relax with your favorite morning beverage, some soothing music, and if possible a view of natural
beauty.
- Let your imagination be your guide, as you picture yourself looking, feeling and acting as you would most like to.
- Visualize the joy and peace in your eyes, your face and your entire body, and you move through your life with the grace, style and well being you choose for yourself.
- Expand, stretch and savor this as much and as long as you can. Then silently say, "Yes. That is me!" with enthusiasm
and determination.
- Rinse and repeat. This only works if you keep doing it, like physical exercise.
This tool works, but only if you use it. And the more you use it, the better it works. Don't let your old default expectations dominate you...make up your mind to step enthusiastically into the best version of yourself!
