Your Fiction Becomes Fact

Whether we know it or not, each of us is making up our own version of what's really going on. Just ask around...you'll find a little agreement here and there, but mostly you'll find as many versions of "reality" as the number of people you interview. The question is not who's right or wrong, the question is, how is your version of reality working for you?

In a way, you might say we're each the author of our own personal fiction. But here's the deal...if you carefully construct your fiction (your version of reality) from the most inspiring, uplifting and optimistic information available, you'll have more energy, health and happiness with which to make your story come true.

I heard Jack Canfield, motivational speaker and co-author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books speaking at a conference years ago, where he said that he tells himself that everyone wants to help him realize his dreams...and you know what? They do! His fiction has become fact, and he's very happy about it.

What stories are you telling yourself? Keep in mind...what you consider to be "fact" might just be a result of the fiction you've been telling yourself for a very long time.

Consider being a little outrageous and telling yourself that things are working out great for you. Tell yourself that your body/mind is a magnificent self-healing and constantly improving organism (it is). Tell yourself that all is well and getting better, and that you are appreciated and loved by those around you. Then just keep telling the story you want to be true, and watch it unfold.

--Phillip Pullman

"Every great love starts with a great story..."
--Nicholas Sparks

"We tell ourselves stories in order to live."
