Optimism Optimizes Your Good

Optimism has the same root meaning as optimize, just as pessimism has the same root meaning as impede. When you consciously choose to be optimistic about your future circumstances, you are literally optimizing your positive outcomes. The benefits of optimism are tremendous and far-reaching, as this article demonstrates. With an ongoing optimistic attitude, you will be healthier, live longer, and have better relationships with the people that matter to you.
There are two ways to practice optimism, and the more you practice it, the stronger and more beneficial it will become. Here they are:
  1. Deliberately plan and schedule things to look forward to. Entertainment, adventure, social time and pure play deserve a consistent place of honor on your calendar!

  2. Visualize and imagine...a) your day as you begin it, b) feeling good before during and after your meals and exercise, and c) being happy and healthy and having a blast in all that you think, say and do. Extend this even further by picturing yourself getting stronger, smarter and more joyful with each new year and decade of your life.
And, as astronaut Chris Hadfield points out in the video below, we have lots of reasons to be optimistic!
