Encourage Yourself Constantly

Life being the way it is, we all need encouragement along the way. If you wait for others to encourage you, you simply won't be hearing enough "You can do this!" and "Way to go!" so be sure to encourage yourself! Take a tip from the comedian Al Franken, who is known for his Stuart Smalley character who looked in the mirror and said, "You're good enough, you're smart enough, and doggone it, people like you!" You know how easy it is to be critical of yourself when you look in the mirror? Break that habit!
Every time you look in a mirror, or see your reflection in a window, just say to yourself, "You look great. What a good person. This world is better for having you in it. Keep up the good work!" While this might seem goofy, what is really goofy is to be your own worst critic...you're way too smart for that! After a successful career as a comedian, Al Franken is now a respected United States Senator. Maybe the Stuart Smalley affirmations helped him to his present position!
